The traditional interval week program offers owners the use of their resort for a week, at a scheduled time. With a points-based program, you make a purchase of a week that has a points value attached and those points can be redeemed for nights at your home resort or resort locations around the world as well as other services related to travel. Many timeshare resort developers and exchange companies are affiliated with other lodging and travel programs, giving you even more choices.

Some resort companies offer owners the opportunity to exchange their timeshare with another property that they own.
